Gianni Savelli
Gianni Savelli Media Res
Gianni Savelli's music is a unique blend of diverse influences, creating a distinct sound that transcends traditional labels and categories.
Echoes of rhythms from distant cultures, European harmonies, and typically jazzy nuances create an intense, evocative atmosphere that accompanies the listener as they explore images and suggestions in the most secret corners of memory.
Gianni Savelli's illustrious career commenced in 1979 and has been a journey of artistic exploration and collaboration. His path has intersected with leading artists across a spectrum of genres, from jazz to world music and from pop to film music.
Gianni Savelli is widely regarded as one of Italy's most eclectic saxophonists, a testament to his ability to blend musical elements into timeless compositions that resonate with audiences across generations.
Since 2000, he has owned his original project, "Gianni Savelli Media Res," in which he reconciles his inner need for extreme refinement with his musical language's expressive and communicative power.
The upcoming fourth album 'Alisei' is named after the gentle yet unwavering winds that guided 16th-century sailors on their explorations. This album draws parallels between these natural forces and the search for an energy that sustains creativity in the exploration of uncharted musical territories.
Media Res collaborated on the soundtrack of "The Ignorant Fairies" by Ferzan Ozpetek.

They listened to the first rough mix, responding with tips, ideas, and sensations evoked by the music. The fruit of those meetings, entrusted to professionals, have been translated into concrete images.
Moreover, the video for the song 'Pacifico' was designed together with fans of the Magellano project, who, after listening to the music, donated images and short shootings that represent their perception.
In the early 2000s, Media Res sustained the WWF campaign to protect water resources.
