Naufragar m'è dolce in questo mar

Frequently, admiring the wonder of the spectacle nature offers us at any moment, this sublime verse comes to my mind, the closing verse of the poem 'L'Infinito' by Giacomo Leopardi.

It would be superfluous to enter into the subject of what this beautiful chant expresses because everything has already been told and written about it.

I had wanted to make an orchestral composition of it.

I have created the coexistence of two elements: a feel of quiet contemplation and a complex inner engagement, to a progressive fade away in the conclusive bars.
