The latest work by Media Res, the quintet founded by an Italian saxophonist in 2000, is an ambitious project.
Savelli draws inspiration from the power of nature—specifically, the trade winds—as a symbol of the energy that fuels creativity in exploring the unknown world of music.
Each composition, from the opening pieceMelodia Sottomarina, inspired by life in the ocean depths, to the closing trackAlisei, which highlights the bass, is distinguished by a strong narrative quality.
Two pieces feature a 17 piece orchestral ensemble whose meticulously crafted arrangements enhance the unique characteristics of the compositions, further elevating their artistic value
