Flying over Gocius de Santu Micheli

The opening melody recalls that of a gosus, a form of devotional singing widespread in Sardinia in the Early Middle Ages. I wanted to imagine the crypt ceiling that housed a small group of singers opening so they could freely hover in the night's fresh air. The recording version is made for a jazz orchestra. In live concerts, an arrangement for a quintet is proposed that offers a different reading, retracing the entire development of the composition.
