Thelxis

It's a word in ancient Greek for enchantment and magic. I was struck to discover that this is precisely the expression used by Homer to describe what happened to Odysseus when listening to the sirens. That Odyssey episode struck me when my grandfather narrated it as a child. In approaching any work of art beyond any technical-formal consideration or meanings that it wants to express, the primary thing I seek is that fascination, that 'getting lost to find oneself' to which this term alludes.
